Oil Yield Expectations

Recommended Process

1. Delinting — Remove cotton lint using a delinting machine. This step is critical — lint absorbs 3-5% of your oil yield.
2. Decortication — Separate hulls from kernels. Hulls contain only 1-2% oil and reduce overall yield.
3. Flaking — Roll the kernels into thin flakes (0.3-0.5mm) to rupture cell walls and improve oil release.
4. Hydraulic Pressing — Load flakes into the HN355 Heavy Duty Hydraulic Press. Apply 63 MPa pressure for 30-40 minutes (hot press) or approximately 2 hours (cold press) per batch.
5. Filtration — Pass crude oil through the pneumatic filter press.
6. Refining — Critical step: degumming, neutralization, bleaching, and deodorization to remove gossypol and free fatty acids.
