Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most common questions about hydraulic oil press machines, including operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical specifications.

Operation & Usage

1

How does a hydraulic oil press machine work?

A hydraulic oil press uses hydraulic pressure to extract oil from oil seeds. The machine consists of a main frame, hydraulic cylinder, press chamber, and control system. Oil seeds are loaded into the press chamber, and the hydraulic cylinder applies controlled pressure to squeeze out the oil. The oil flows through filters and is collected in a storage tank.
2

What is the maximum hydraulic pressure?

Our hydraulic oil press machines operate at pressures between 60-75 MPa, depending on the model and application. The HN325 model uses 60 MPa for standard operation, while the HN500 ultra-high-pressure model can reach up to 75 MPa for difficult materials like coconuts.
3

How much oil can I extract per batch?

The oil yield depends on the material type, moisture content, and pressing parameters. Typical yields include: sesame (45-54%), peanut (42-50%), rapeseed (38-45%), soybean (18-22%), walnut (45-50%), and coconut (60-65%). Each batch processes 100 kg of material with standard models.
4

How long does a pressing cycle take?

A typical pressing cycle takes 30-90 minutes, including loading, pressing, and unloading. The exact time depends on the material type, batch size, and pressure settings. Hydraulic presses operate in batch mode, unlike screw presses which are continuous.
5

Can I use the machine for cold pressing?

Yes! Our hydraulic oil press machines are specifically designed for both hot and cold pressing. For cold pressing, the temperature is maintained below 60°C to preserve the natural flavor and nutrients of the oil. This is well-suited for premium quality oils and organic products.

Maintenance & Care

1

How often should I perform maintenance?

We recommend daily checks (oil level, pressure gauge), weekly maintenance (cleaning, filter check), monthly inspection (hydraulic seals, electrical connections), and annual overhaul (complete disassembly, replacement of wearing parts). Regular maintenance extends the machine lifespan to 15-20 years.
2

What hydraulic oil should I use?

Use anti-wear hydraulic oil with viscosity grade ISO VG 46 (recommended) or ISO VG 32 for cold climates. The oil should meet standard DIN 51524-2 or equivalent. Always keep the oil clean and replace the filter every 500 operating hours.
3

How do I clean the press chamber?

After each use, wipe the press chamber with a clean cloth to remove residual oil and seed cake. For thorough cleaning, use warm water with mild detergent. Never use abrasive cleaners or high-pressure water jets on hydraulic components.
4

What are the common wearing parts?

The main wearing parts are: hydraulic seals (replace every 2000 hours), filter elements (every 500 hours), press cloth (every 3-6 months), and pressure relief valve (every 5000 hours). We maintain a complete stock of spare parts for all models.

Troubleshooting

1

The press is not building up pressure. What should I check?

First check the hydraulic oil level - it should be between the minimum and maximum marks on the tank. Next, check for leaks in the hydraulic system (hoses, connections, seals). Verify the pressure relief valve is not stuck open. If pressure still doesn't build, the hydraulic pump may need inspection or replacement.
2

The oil output is lower than expected. Why?

Low oil output can be caused by: insufficient pressure (check pressure gauge), wrong temperature settings (too hot or too cold), material not properly prepared (moisture content), worn press seals, or filter blockage. Check these factors systematically and adjust parameters accordingly.
3

The machine is making unusual noises. Is this normal?

Some operational noise is normal, but unusual noises like grinding, knocking, or whining indicate potential problems. Check for loose components, worn gears, low hydraulic oil, or trapped air in the system. If the noise persists, stop the machine and contact our technical support team.
4

How do I fix a hydraulic oil leak?

Identify the leak source (hose, fitting, seal, or cylinder). Tighten loose fittings, replace damaged hoses, and service worn seals. Always relieve system pressure before attempting any repairs. If the leak is from the hydraulic cylinder, the seal kit needs to be replaced.

Technical Specifications

1

What is the power consumption?

Power consumption varies by model: HN325 uses 5.5 kW, HN500 uses 7.5 kW, and HN800 uses 11 kW. The actual consumption depends on the operating pressure and load. Hydraulic presses are generally more energy-efficient than screw presses for small to medium scale production.
2

What are the machine dimensions?

HN325: 1200 x 800 x 1800 mm (L x W x H), weight 450 kg. HN500: 1500 x 1000 x 2000 mm, weight 680 kg. HN800: 1800 x 1200 x 2200 mm, weight 950 kg. Custom sizes available on request.
3

What electrical requirements are needed?

Our machines require standard 3-phase 400V power supply with a dedicated circuit breaker. The control system uses 24V DC for safety. We recommend installing a voltage stabilizer in areas with unstable power supply. A qualified electrician should handle the installation.
4

Can the machine be used for multiple oil seeds?

Yes! Our hydraulic oil press machines are versatile and can process a wide range of oil seeds and nuts, including sesame, peanut, rapeseed, soybean, walnut, almond, coconut, sunflower, linseed, and more. Simply adjust the pressure and temperature settings for each material.
